Greek Traditions

The very ornate sanctuary of St. Katherine's Orthodox Church in Elk Grove, California was the setting for this beautiful wedding. The stephana (crown) was worn by the bride and groom as the Priest led them three times around the center alter table. They also drank wine from a common cup – signifying they will be sharing the happiness and sorrows of life together. Greek custom dictates, the right hand is preferred for the wearing of the rings, which this couple happily complied.
